Our Common Home

In response to Pope Francis' Laudato Si' and Laudate Deum we have an Eco Council at St Bernadette's. It is the responsibility of the Eco Council to raise awareness and lead on caring for our common home and looking after the environment. It is important that we all play our part.

We will update this page regularly with what our Eco Council have been doing.

Mission Day- Day of Stewardship October 2024 .

Our first mission day this year has focussed on taking care of God's world. We had a day of stewardship. The day started in prayer as our Eco Council led a Celebration of the Word in the hall for the whole school. Following the Celebration of the Word, each class participated in different activities to help play a part in taking care of God's world.

Year groups joined together to undertake litter picking in the school and parish grounds and also in the local community.

The children also planted some spring bulbs in school and around the parish grounds. Each class learnt about Laudato Si and about their responsibility to care for our common home. The children created posters to put up around school and in the community about taking care of God's world. Finally, each class took part in some art through nature. We had a brilliant day and will continue to work hard to care for God's beautiful world-our common home.
